As you are probably aware, the much anticipated AION has just been released for North America and Europe and so far it's going very well!
We are happy to tell you that we have opened our brand new, totally FREE, Smoothping service for AION.
For the North American release, NCSoft (the makers of AION) decided to host their servers in one Datacenter physically located in Washington DC. This makes it particularly bad for Oceanic players to get decent in-game ping times, with an average in-game /ping from Australia/NZ around 700ms. Luckily, using Smoothping with AION, users are seeing tremendous improvements in their /ping times with 270ms and lower quite achievable. Of course, many other places around the world, including the USA, will still benefit tremendously from using Smoothping for AION.
Our first 4 Smoothping AION servers are up and running with 2 located on the West Coast and 2 located on the East Coast. We recommend you try each of the servers out and see what works best for you. Oceanic players will probably find their best performance using our West Coast servers (aionwest01.smoothping.com, aionwest02.smoothping.com) and most others will probably find their best performance using our East Coast servers (aioneast01.smoothping.com, aioneast02.smoothping.com). Feel free to try any and all servers until you are happy with the results.
To use Smoothping for AION, you only have to follow the simple setup instructions here (remember, it is FREE to use with no trial/disconnects):

It does not matter if your Smoothping account is a “trial” account as we have set up our AION servers to give full, unrestricted access to all Smoothping customers. We will keep our AION service free for as long as we can to ensure that we are giving the absolute best service we can. Again, this is not a 20 minute disconnect service but instead you are able to play AION 24/7, with no disconnections for as long as we keep our AION service free (which will not change any time soon)!

To check your in-game ping in AION, just type /ping. It’s very simple to see the difference that Smoothping for AION makes!
