Druid Talent Guide And Loot List

• Keeper of the Grove (Balance Druid): Patch 1.8 has given birth to this new offensive caster build that many druids have happily experimented with. The massive armor bonus of moonkin, combined with a spell critical aura make this druid an excellent raid companion, and a deadly PvP combatant. Still able to backup heal, this druid does require some decent gear to fully reach it's potential. Your mana is the biggest concern and moonfire spam will drain your pool exceedingly fast. • Animagus (Feral Druid): Once laughed at, the build has received extremely large buffs over the last two patches. A fully geared feral druid can finally do some very respectable damage, but at the cost of some of their utility. The title build focuses around the feral cat aspect, and you'll want to look for gear with strength, agility, and stamina (crit would also be good). A more tanking bear oriented feral build, while not as popular as it once was, is still very nice to have in a 5-man group and can be seen here. • Preserver (Restoration Druid): If raiding is what you'll be focusing on, then you can easily turn to the restoration tree. The deeply spec'd title build give this druid heals that are on par with many priest builds. Unfortunately, you'll role will be unidirectional but on the plus side you should have no problem getting a group. Look for gear with +healing, +spellpower, intellect and spirit. • Swiftshifter (Hybrid Druid): The ultimate in versatility, this druids is truly a jack-of-all-trades and master of none. While somewhat eclipsed now by the newly buffed catform and a hot new offensive spellcaster, this druid still remains my favorite build. This build is a little more difficult to play as you'll be using a lot of different combinations depending on the situation (its easy to completely fill 4 action bars), but it is very rewarding, and if played right, can be an exceedingly difficult PvP combatant.

Patch 1.8 has opened up a new world for druids. Although it's a little early to tell it seems like not only is the cat form druid greatly buffed, but the new balance tree has created a strong DPS caster option. The druid has had, IMHO, the most options when it comes to builds and play styles, their heals have been, and still are, on par with some priest builds. With patch 1.8 spell DPS has been totally opened up with the moonkin form, and the feral forms, especially cat form, has been given a breath of new life. While all these options are excellent, druids find themselves swapping complete gear setups for different roles (I personally lug around a +heal set and a feral cat set now). Bag space is a precious comodity you'll learn to respect early.

With that in mind there is going to be some very different things that Druids will look for in gear. Some will be interested in gear with +INT, +STA, +spellpower, and +SPI while other will look for +STR, +AGI, and +STA. I'll be marking gear with a C for Caster Druids, a FC for Feral Cat Druids, a FB for Feral Bear Druids, and a plain F for viability in both feral forms. Many Druids will want to mix and match these, the Swiftshifitng 8/22/21 is extremely versatile and popular for a good reason.

Please note: This list is by no means a "druid's have exclusive rights to this" equip list. Please be considerate of your group members and respect loot rules. If you are horde you will most likely be in direct competition with the Shaman until lvl 40, and if you decide to gear up for an all-out cat form you are going be looking for gear that most Rogue's will want.

A druid can be a suprisingly good tank in bear form with the right gear. Catform is by early indications doing much better then ever before, but it is still too soon to say catform is a balanced build.
