Priest Talent Guide and Loot List

• Mystic (Discipline Priest): The discipline priest is often overlooked and actually quite effective if given the chance. Although not quite as potent a healer as a holy priest or as deadly in PvP as a shadow priest, the discipline priest has far more versatility when it comes to general PvE and Battlegrounds. This priest truly shines in smaller groups where more then just healing is needed. Most discipline priests go down the holy tree as seen in the title build, but some may wish to put the points into the shadow tree and can be seen here. • Cleric (Holy Priest): THE premiere healer in World of Warcraft, the holy priests sole purpose is to keep their groups health bars green. Questing, leveling, and grinding are painful with this build, but you'll never have to worry about getting an invite to any instance, raid, or battleground. Almost all holy priests temper their build with the discipline branch as using mana for shadow casting is almost always taboo in groups. Some holy priests will drop mental strength and put the points into improved renew or inspiration. • Phantom (Shadow Priest): A classic PvP build that is also recommended to ease your leveling, the shadow priest is a surprisingly good offensive caster. Don't expect to stay in shadowform when you're part of a PvE group, and you'll most likely get jeers in battleground if you don't heal. Almost every shadow priest will go down the discipline path as shadowform directly clashes with most of the holy talents. Load up on +spellpower/+shadow gear and you'll be pleasantly surprised just how powerful a caster this priest can be. While leveling many shadow priests get spirit tap, however, at higher levels the points are better spent elsewhere unless you'll be solo grinding a lot.

Leveling a priest is a slow ordeal however, and you'll have pretty much only one role in any instance: healing. A good priest, like a good master tank, will make or break your instance runs; and while gear isn't quite as important on a priest as it is on a tank, you'll definitely want to get some +healing pieces and/or a decent mana pool. Two sample builds are listed here, one that focuses on all-out instance healing, and a utility build that can be used in a wide variety of places. You may want to mix and match between these to make a more well-rounded priest or for PvP. Please note: This list is by no means a "priest's have exclusive rights to this" equip list. Please be considerate of your group members and respect loot rules. Mages and warlocks will want to roll on many of the items listed here, please be mindful of gear that would most likely better serve them (ie +shadow/+fire/+ice dmg).

This build focuses on going all out on +healing and +crit to achieve the biggest heals possible. This priest is pretty much an instance-bot, but you'll be highly wanted across your realm (a blessing and a curse).
